ORCHARD ESTATE, BYRON BAY, NSW.
During springtime at The Orchard Estate I had the honour of being part of one of the most passionate weddings that I’ve ever experienced.
LOCKING IN THE VENUE
A year earlier when Deanna and David first looked at Orchard Estate in the Byron hinterland it was covered in clouds and mist. It felt a bit like the moody weather they experienced in NZ where David proposed. They fell in love with the place and booked it in there and then. Come the wedding day and not a skerrick of mist or cloud existed anywhere, and instead they had the most perfect spring weather.
GETTING READY
Getting ready at the same house down the road they were able to stay apart and even get dressed in the same room after each other as it had the best light in the house. Their best mate Priya, who was both the maid of honour and best (wo)man, was there to give them both a hand.
It was my 2nd time to Orchard Estate (check out the first time here). It was great to be back there and feel super confidant knowing where the sun was going to be throughout the afternoon and therefore the best places for photos during the different stages of the day.
THE CEREMONY
Perfectly shaded on a sunny day, the wedding ceremony was down under the big tree in amongst the Orchard Estate macadamia trees. In what was one of the best ceremonies of all time, Ben Carlyle got everyone pumped and ready to witness something special. Deanna and David are both doctors and if I’m ever sick in hospital I hope that I’ve got one of these two looking after me. Based on their vows alone they are two of the most beautiful, romantic and passionate souls on the planet. It was one of the most emotional and heart felt ceremonies I’ve witnessed in a long time. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house – that includes me!
GOLDEN HOUR
Their vows were so magical I asked the ceremony king Ben Carlyle if I could hold onto the pieces of paper with the vows on so we could relive some of the moments again at sunset with no one else around. He obliged and when we went exploring in golden hour, I pulled out the vows and they got to relive them all over again in the very spot they heard them for the first time. They were just as incredible the 2nd time around.
Some weddings that I shoot really stay with me and this is one of them. The energy and passion was over flowing and left me buzzing for days. I still feel buzzed looking at these photos now. Thanks for trusting me and letting me into your world for a little bit.

“My husband, David, and I cannot adequately articulate how amazing Scott is as a person and as a photographer.”
.jpg)
“He did both our engagement shoot in the Blue Mountains and our wedding in Byron Bay. Looking at our photographs, you wouldn’t know the extent of how nervous, camera-shy we are.”
.jpg)
“Scott is a lovely, relaxed bloke who’s chill mannerism, his simple techniques and strategies, and candid style really helps you be yourself in front of the camera. And he manages to capture those moments of candor and true emotion perfectly.”

“Our guests have been saying how beautifully he captured all the fun, love, and emotional fragility of the day.”

“We love Scott, absolutely love all our photos, and would not only recommend him to others, but look forward to working with him for years to come (as long as he’ll have us!)”
Yes, I’ll have you!! (insert crying face emoji).jpg)
