This is how the night ended, Nathan surprising Libbie with fireworks……
Earlier that day….
Bellingen, NSW Mid North Coast, Australia.
When I arrived at the Bellingen property on the morning of the wedding I was blown away with how stunning it was. It’s already one of my favourite places because of it’s beauty and vibe but this particular property had something magical about it. Who doesn’t love some cloud covered mountains! Not only that but I was excited to be there to capture the day for Libbie and Nathan. It didn’t feel like work at all. It just felt right.
Libbie called me up a few weeks before the wedding and told me about something different they wanted to do for the ceremony. She explained some of their history and how there was significance about the time 12:51. When they first started dating Nathan told Libbie about 12:51. He said that after hearing that song (by The Strokes) as a teenager he was always seeing that time on clocks , watches, phones etc. It was just something weird he noticed. At that time they were doing the long distance thing. Libbie in Rockhampton and Nathan in Sydney. From that point on Libbie started noticing 12:51 too. They started screen-shotting it when they noticed and would send it to each other as a reminder that while they were so far away they were always thinking about each other.
One day when they were younger and feeling carefree they decided to randomly go on a holiday and go to whatever destination flight 1251 went to. They looked up Virgin Airlines and discovered that flight VA1251 was a flight to Libbie’s hometown Rockhampton. A flight that Nathan would have taken the first time he visited.
Fast forward a few years with 12:51 on their minds they thought it would only be fitting to have a secret ceremony at 12:51pm to make it all official before the scheduled 3pm ceremony. It made total sense to me and thats what they did. When the 3pm ceremony rolled around none of their guests had any idea that they were already husband and wife.
From start to finish Libbie and Nathan’s wedstival in Bellingen was a day I won’t forget in a hurry and I feel very lucky to have been part of it. Thanks again you amazing people!
